After graduating from Columbia University in 2015 with a BFA in Film Studies, William Macaulay entered the industry working below the line on network and premium television productions, eventually serving as Martin Scorsese's assistant on the HBO Original Series VINYL. After learning the industry from the ground up, William moved behind the camera, taking a full-time job as a Creative Producer/Director at the NYC-based Birds Nest Productions. After a three year tenure as head of creative, Will started his own production company, Modern Day Auteur LLC in 2020. While the COVID-19 pandemic came with challenges, Will committed to and found success in his mission to bring an authorial cinematic lens to top of the line commercial and creative work. He has had the privilege of directing visual campaigns for luxury brands like Bulgari and Grey Goose as well as content for platinum recording artists such as Sting — including visuals that premiered on the NBC NYE Ball Drop, Good Morning America and NPR’s Tiny Desk. William is also the writer, director, editor and cinematographer of several awarded festival pieces, one of which was officially selected by more than 10 prominent film festivals around the world.
